A friend of mine from England, his wife, and I were chatting about our artistic goals and dreams, what we have always wanted to accomplish and some ideas that we have. We went into some depth and I told them of my current situation and how frustrated I am about it all. Photography and Art

I am asked quite often if photography can be art. My response is always the same, yes it can be. The tools used to create the artwork are different than what is considered more traditional art but the end result is the same. An image that is not only beautiful, but one that can also inspire. The word photography is derived from the greek words "phos" meaning light and "graphis" meaning stytlus or paintbrush. Together meaning light painting. Thus my quote, "The Art of Painting With Light" for that is what photography is. Instead of using pigment or paints, I use light to create my artwork.

I have had several people recently ask me about ethics and the lack thereof in todays world. When ever I teach a class on photography I always have a section on ethics, it is always the one subject that has the most intense discussion and is almost always the one subject that the students tell me that they enjoyed the most. I am a very old fashioned person and I believe that ethics are the most important thing in life. I love photography dearly and it always hurts when I hear about how someone who professes to be a photographer, acts in an unethical manner.
